Sources: The research that led to this catalog was supported by Fulbright Hungary Grant No. 1222202, awarded to H. Hargitai for research at USGS Astrogeology, Flagstaff, Arizona (advisor: Trent Hare), and by the ICA Commission on Planetary Cartography (advisor: Kira Shingareva). Most of the data is based on the inventory of the map library of USGS Astrogeology.

La presente carta è stata disegnata allo scopo di permettere una immediata e facile identificazione al telescopio o sulle fotografie, di tutti gli oggetti aventi un nome. Si è pertanto cercato di dare una rappresentazione espressiva e plastica del rilievo, a mezzo di una illuminazione proveniente da Ovest, obliqua, per convenzione, in ogni punto del globo.

This map was drawn with the aim of allowing immediate and easy identification, through the telescope or in photographs, of all objects that have a name. Therefore, an attempt was made to provide an expressive and three-dimensional representation of the relief by means of illumination coming from the west, obliquely, by convention, at every point on the globe.
